really proud to put out this long awaited solo record by canadian garage-rock legend Jeff Clarke. A stripped-down, melancholic change of pace from the musician who’s particularily famous for boisterous compositions. In his lyrics, Clarke gives a lot to obtain, from convoluted descriptions of abstruse worlds of reality and split attentions of consciousnesses to achieving lucidity within dreams. On »Locust«, you’ll find thirteen songs accompanied only by his guitar, blending light and dark, fragility and strength, intimacy and distance. Recorded in a single session, outdoors in a forest outside Berlin.

Very special thanks are due at this point to Lorenz Szukal, who came up with the concept for the intimate setting and is also responsible for this beautiful album artwork. When Clarke arrived at #otoolstudio , they took his recording equipment into the woods and created a warm, dreamy, minimalist folk sound that is enhanced by the recordings themselves. Clarke’s voice blends with the vivid lyrical imagery, the subtle dynamics of his guitar playing, and an almost imperceptible echo to leave the listener in a daydream state.
